'Green Zebra'

Lycopersicon lycopersicum SOLANACEAE
85 days. (Indeterminate) [Developed by tomato breeder Tom Wagner of Tater Mater Seeds in 1986 by crossing two heirloom tomatoes.] Alice Waters of the renowned Chez Panisse restaurant chose 'Green Zebra' as one of her favorite varieties. The ripe fruits of this unusual tomato have a rare zebra-like color pattern of alternating green and yellow vertical stripes. The flesh has an emerald green color and the flavor is mildly sweet and tangy. Medium-sized, slightly elongated fruits average about 3 ounces. The well-branched vines have some resistance to septoria leaf spot. This is a choice tomato for slicing and salads.
